Basic Knowledge Of Non-Woven Fabrics
Jul 14,2017
Nonwoven, also known as non-woven fabric, non-woven fabric.
A sheet, web or batt of oriented or randomly arranged fibers bonded to each other by rubbing, cohesion, or bonding, or a combination of these methods. Excludes paper and woven, knitted, tufted, stitched with stitched yarns, and wetlaid felts (whether or not such articles are needle-punched).
Fibers may be natural or chemically processed, and may be staple fibers, filaments, or fibers formed in situ.
Note: 1. The difference between wet-laid nonwovens and wet-laid paper is that nonwovens should meet one of the following conditions:
a. Fibers with a ratio of length to diameter greater than 300 (excluding chemically cooked vegetable fibers) account for more than 50% of the mass of its fiber components;
b. The fiber with a ratio of length to diameter greater than 300 (excluding chemically cooked vegetable fibers) accounts for more than 30% of its mass, and its density is less than 0.4/cm m⒊
2. Viscose fibers are not considered to be chemically cooked vegetable fibers.
2. Fiber raw materials
There are many types of fiber raw materials suitable for non-woven fabrics, mainly including natural fibers and chemical fibers. In order to make nonwovens with different properties, uses and styles, high-performance specialty fibers and functionalized and differentiated fibers can also be used.
(1) Natural fibers: such as cotton, wool, hemp, silk, etc.;
(2) Chemical fibers: such as viscose fiber, polyester, nylon, polypropylene, acrylic, vinylon, etc.;
(3) Differential fibers and high-performance fibers;
Such as: low melting point thermal bonding fiber (ES fiber, modified polypropylene, copolyamide, copolyester, etc.);
Microfiber (fineness less than 0.3dtex);
three-dimensional crimped hollow fibers;
colored fibers;
High-performance fibers (carbon fiber, aramid, polyphenylene sulfide, polyether ketone, etc.);
Water-soluble fibers (water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers, hydroxymethyl cellulose fibers, etc.)
(4) Properties of main chemical fibers and special fibers used in non-woven fabrics (table omitted)
3. Classification of non-woven fabrics
There are many classification methods of non-woven fabrics, which can be classified according to the processing route of the non-woven part: the method of web forming and the classification of product uses. The following table is classified according to the different web forming methods of non-woven fabrics.
(1) Nonwovens for medical and health care
Fabrics for diapers and sanitary napkins; surgical blouses, cap covers, shoe covers, masks, face shields, hospital patients, bed sheets, mattress pads, pillowcases, antibacterial curtains; wet towels, cotton balls, sterile wraps; white blood cell separation materials, Artificial skin; basic materials for labor protection clothing in radiation situations; medical tape base cloth, bandage base cloth, wound dressing, wound cushion, blood-sucking cloth.
